Pattaya —
A Swedish tourist in Pattaya was robbed of nearly 50,000 baht after stopping to rest while heavily intoxicated.
At 3:36 AM on November 27th, Pattaya police received a report of a theft against a foreign tourist near Pattaya City School 8. Upon receiving the report, police quickly proceeded to investigate, along with reporters from The Pattaya News.
At the scene, they found Mr. Lars, a 65-year-old Swedish tourist, who appeared heavily intoxicated. He informed the officers that a suspect, whom he described as a transgender individual, had stolen 2,000 baht in cash and a gold ring worth over 40,000 baht from him before fleeing. He asked for help from a bystander, who contacted the authorities.
A motorcycle taxi driver, Mr. Winai, 50, told The Pattaya News that the victim had been resting while waiting for a ride back to his accommodation. The suspect, who often walks around the area according to Mr. Winai, approached Mr. Lars and pretended to offer help. Sensing something suspicious, Mr. Winai attempted to intervene but later discovered the tourist had already been robbed. The suspect quickly fled before police arrived.
Pattaya police are reviewing nearby CCTV footage to track down the suspect and proceed with legal action.
