Pattaya —
A Thai woman survived a bus running over her head on the Pattaya–Rayong Bypass, thanks to her helmet.
At 6:06 PM on November 25th, the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Center received a report of a bus colliding with a motorcycle on Highway 36, also known as the Pattaya–Rayong Bypass Road. Rescue volunteers immediately went to the scene, along with reporters from The Pattaya News.
There, a tour bus carrying Chinese tourists was found with damage to its front left side. The driver, 55-year-old Mr. Witoon Phansong, was waiting to provide information to authorities. The tourists on the bus appeared shaken by the accident. Nearby, a red Honda Wave 125 motorcycle was found overturned and damaged.
A Thai woman, approximately 30-40 years old, with no identification documents, was found injured beside the motorcycle. Her head had sustained a large wound after being run over by the bus’s wheel. Fortunately, she was wearing a helmet, which broke when it was run over, potentially saving her life. Rescue workers provided first aid before rushing her to a local hospital for further treatment.
Bus driver Mr. Witoon told The Pattaya News that he was driving in the middle lane when he noticed the motorcycle crossing from the left to the right. He attempted to avoid the collision by braking and honking his horn, but the motorcyclist seemed unaware of the warning. The bus then struck the motorcycle, causing the rider to fall onto the road and the bus running over her head.
Banglamung police are investigating the accident. Officers are reviewing CCTV footage to determine the exact cause of the incident.
