Man Hit by Car and Injured While Urinating on Roadside in Pattaya Area

A Thai man was hit by a car while he was urinating on a roadside in Banglamung on Saturday morning (November 23rd).

Emergency responders were notified of the accident at 6:10 A.M. on the Nong Hin Railway Road in Nongprue. They and the Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find a damaged motorbike and the injured man, identified only as Mr. Jaran, 40, from Nakhon Ratchasima who had broken his arm and injured his head. Nearby, police found the car and other party involved who was identified only as Mr. Noraset, 41. He was described as cooperative by police and was waiting at the scene for law enforcement and rescue workers after phoning them.

Mr. Noraset also agreed to speak with reporters and told the Pattaya News that it was dimly lit in the area and he could not see the motorbike parked on the roadside and the man urinating nearby. Meanwhile, Mr. Jaran, who was cognizant despite his injuries, told the Pattaya News that he had stopped the motorbike to urinate on the side of the road.

It was unclear what legal charges would be applied to the incident as of press time. The Pattaya News notes that public urination is also against Thai law but police did not comment on this matter.
