Over 107,000 Meth Pills Seized in Banglamung Drug Bust

Banglamung —

Banglamung police arrested three drug dealing suspects and seized over 107,000 meth pills and 1.08 kilograms of crystal meth in a major drug bust.

On November 20th, 2024, Banglamung police held a press conference to announce the successful arrest of three suspects, including Mr. Surachai “Pong” Chudi, 32, Mr. Narong “Game” Buasai, 27, and Ms. Waraporn Ritsri, 30 (Surachai’s wife).

The officers seized 107,360 methamphetamine pills, 1.083 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, a bronze-gray Toyota Vios and a white Isuzu D-Max pickup truck, with a total estimated value of over 2.3 million baht.

The operation took place on November 19th, targeting a drug gang trafficking large quantities of methamphetamine into Pattaya and Banglamung areas. An undercover officer arranged to purchase 4,000 meth pills for 18,000 baht from the suspects, but they changed the meeting location multiple times and used two vehicles to evade arrest. Unfortunately, the operation failed when the suspects fled immediately after delivering the drugs.

Police revised their strategy and learned that the gang’s leader, Mr. Surachai, liked cockfighting. Posing as a cockfighting trader, police lured Mr. Surachai to a farm and promised to trade fighting roosters with his meth. Mr. Surachai fell for the plan and was arrested at the farm.

Further investigations led to the arrest of his accomplices, including Mr. Narong and Ms. Waraporn, and a search of their residence revealed the stash of drugs and the vehicles used in their evasion. A quantity of ammunition was also seized, though no firearms were found.

Mr. Surachai admitted that he had recently been released from prison in 2021 after serving time for drug offenses. He resumed trafficking drugs because he could not find a job. He stated that he purchased the drugs from an online supplier through the Line application without ever meeting in person.

The three suspects were charged with possession of Type 1 narcotics with intent to sell and are being held at Banglamung Police Station for further legal proceedings.
