Argument at Pattaya Convenience Store Turns Violent, Indian Tourist Suffers Broken Leg

Pattaya —

At 3:00 AM on November 14th, 2024, Pattaya police responded to an assault outside a well-known convenience store on Pattaya Beach Road that left an Indian tourist with a severely broken right leg.

Mr. Anngad, a 38-year-old Indian tourist, suffered a facial injury and a severely broken right leg. A crowd of Thai and foreign tourists had gathered around in concern as emergency responders administered initial care before taking him to a local hospital.

According to unidentified convenience store staff, the altercation began when Anngad accused them of missing items in his purchase.
Despite their assurance that the items were complete and rang up properly, the verbal dispute escalated and became heated, leading to the Indian tourist reportedly being pushed outside. Witnesses reported that after the initial confrontation, an unidentified male outside the store allegedly punched Anngad, causing him to fall and suffer a broken leg. It’s unclear who the male suspect was and he wasn’t a member of store staff.
The assailant was still at large as of press time.

A local witness, however, who asked for their name to be withheld, criticized the staff for reportedly calling someone from outside to “assist,” which they felt was unnecessary and overly aggressive.
Other bystanders also described the staff’s behavior as disrespectful, noting the alleged use of offensive language towards the tourist before the incident.
The names of the witnesses and store staff members were withheld by the police, stating that they need to investigate and speak to senior store management, who were not present at the time of the dispute.
Pattaya police are reviewing nearby CCTV footage and gathering further witness statements as they work to identify the assailant.
With Loy Krathong and the International Fireworks Festival approaching, authorities are prioritizing a quick response to ensure visitor safety and uphold Pattaya’s image as a tourist destination, noted TPN.

Pattaya police have also reminded tourists and business owners that if there is a dispute to never, ever resort to conflict on one’s own, but to call 1155 and request assistance from the tourist police to resolve the conflict in an impartial manner.
