Pattaya to Increase Security and Extend Beach Vendor Hours for Loy Krathong Festival

Pattaya —

Pattaya is increasing security and traffic measures to keep tourists and locals safe during this year’s Loy Krathong Festival.

On November 12th, at Pattaya City Hall, Mr. Wutthisak Ruemkijakarn, Deputy Mayor of Pattaya, chaired a meeting to prepare security and traffic measures for the upcoming Loy Krathong Festival in Pattaya.

Mr. Wutthisak stated that this year, Pattaya City will hold Loy Krathong events at the Lan Pho Naklua Market and Koh Larn. However, the city will increase security around key areas, such as Pattaya Beach and Jomtien Beach, as many tourists typically go there to celebrate the festival.

The meeting focused on measures to protect both lives and property of the people, such as a ban on fireworks and sky lanterns. The officials will also inspect piers, pontoons, and waterfront areas to make sure they are stable and secure.

Mr. Wutthisak noted that this year’s Loy Krathong is expected to attract many local residents and tourists. To accommodate the crowds, beach chair vendors will be allowed to operate until midnight, and vendors selling krathongs on sidewalks near the beach will be permitted, but only in designated areas, to help generate income for locals.
