Pattaya – A young man who stole a G-string from an automatic washing machine at a laundry shop in Pattaya has admitted his guilt, written a letter of apology, and returned the stolen item along with compensation to the victim.
At 3:06 AM on November 11th, 2024, Ms. Kai (pseudonym), 42, the owner of the laundry shop, filed a complaint with Pol. Lt. Col. Saijai Khamjunla, an investigation officer at Pattaya City Police Station. She reported that a man had entered her shop in Soi Phenyad Chang 8, Nongprue Subdistrict, Banglamung District, and stolen underwear from a female customer. Ms. Kai provided CCTV footage as evidence and requested that reporters present the footage as a warning.
Ms. Kai explained that the previous night, a well-dressed man drove a family SUV and parked in front of the shop. He rummaged through some clothes in a laundry basket and took a G-string, stuffing it into his pocket. Her daughter noticed the man and questioned him, to which he claimed he was there to collect clothes. Initially, they thought nothing of it.
Later that night, the man returned, parked his car, and entered the shop again. This time, he left a white envelope containing 1,000 baht and the stolen underwear. The envelope included a note in which he expressed his remorse, stating, “From what I did today, it made me feel very stressed, very bad about what I did, and caused trouble for others. I apologize to the shop and the owner of the clothes for what happened. I would like to compensate for the damages as a punishment for myself so that I will learn my lesson. I ask that the shop and the owner of the clothes please forgive me. Please do not press charges against me. I will remember this as a lesson and will not do it again.”
Regardless, the victim also brought the CCTV footage that recorded the entire incident to the police and made a daily record as evidence.
