British Man Injured in Road Rage Attack by Thai Man with Iron Baton in Pattaya

Pattaya

A British man was struck by a Thai man with an iron baton in a road rage incident in Pattaya on the morning of November 9th, 2024.

Around 8:44 AM, the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Center received a report of a foreigner being assaulted and injured in front of the LK Metro Hotel, located on Soi Buakhao in Pattaya. Upon receiving the report, rescue volunteers and officers from the Pattaya Police Station immediately went to the scene.

There, they found Mr. James Edward, a British national, standing with serious injuries to his head and a deep cut on his left arm. He pointed and gestured that he had been struck with a weapon.

Not far away, police found Mr. Arti, a 35-year-old Thai car driver, standing nearby with minor injuries. Rescue workers provided first aid and then transported both parties to the hospital.

Local media reported that the two had been involved in a minor traffic accident at a nearby intersection. Mr. James had been riding a black Honda Scoopy I motorcycle, while Mr. Arti was driving a white Mitsubishi Attrage sedan. They continued to follow each other after the accident until they reached the front of the hotel, where an argument broke out and escalated into a physical altercation.

Mr. Arti reportedly used an iron baton to attack Mr. James, resulting in heavy bleeding. It was unclear, however, how Mr. James retaliated, causing minor injuries to Mr. Arti, or who started the assault.

The investigation by Pattaya police is ongoing.
