Bangkok —
On November 8th, 2024, Bang Rak police arrested two Thai men who allegedly used a steak knife to rob a Chinese tourist in Bangkok’s Bang Rak district on November 5th.
The suspects, Mr. Jetsada, 22, and Mr. Suradet, 23, face multiple charges, including armed robbery at night, causing distress and harm to the victim, and carrying a weapon without proper cause in a public area.
The incident occurred around 4:20 AM near Si Phraya Road in Bang Rak district. The suspects, riding a red-and-black motorbike, reportedly approached Mr. Zhu, a 30-year-old tourist from China. Wielding a steak knife, they demanded his belongings, forcing the victim to hand over his iPhone 15 Pro before they fled the scene.
Following the robbery, investigators quickly gathered evidence and, on November 6th, obtained warrants for the suspects’ arrest.
Police discovered the stolen iPhone and the motorbike used in the crime. Upon questioning, both suspects confessed, revealing they had been consuming kratom juice at Jetsada’s residence before deciding to drive around the city in search of quick cash.
According to the suspects, they had financial difficulties, which led them to target the tourist. Both men are now in police custody, awaiting further legal action at Bang Rak Police Station.
