Pattaya —
At 10:00 PM on November 8th, 2024, Pattaya’s Sawang Boriboon Rescue Center received a call for assistance after a Chinese tourist reportedly climbed a tree in a distressed state at a parking lot in the Banglamung district.
Rescue volunteers, disaster prevention officers, and Pattaya City police quickly arrived at the scene, where a large crowd had gathered.
The tourist, publicly identified only as Mr. Lin from China, was perched on a large banyan tree, appearing agitated and seemingly fearful of something.
Local authorities and nearby Chinese tourists attempted to calm him down, but Lin initially refused to descend. After over 30 minutes of negotiation, he finally climbed down safely on his own.
An unidentified bus driver who witnessed the incident reported that Lin had been arguing with his wife, who appeared intoxicated. In his distress, Lin ran to the tree and climbed up. When attempts to call him down failed, authorities were summoned to assist.
