This month marked a significant period for the American Legion Post TH 02 as they concluded their fund drive for much-needed repairs at a local temple and organized a day to feed the hungry.
The cremation furnace at a local temple had deteriorated, with missing bricks and failed mortar, necessitating repairs to ensure it could continue. This is part of the work of the Nathan Kent Foundaitonm This foundation aims to prevent American veterans from ending up in pauper’s graves in Thailand.
The repairs, costing 400,000 Baht, received substantial contributions from members of the post. The temple, located between Ban Bueng and Phanat Nikhom in a rural farming community, saw diverse donations ranging from one-baht coins to pledges of 10,000 Baht. A notable contribution even came from a member in Atol, Azores.
Support came predominantly from local Thais and members, united in backing this worthy cause. Rainbow Village, a local business, played a crucial role in spearheading the project, pledging to cover any costs not met by donations, hiring the contractor, and driving the initiative forward.
Today’s events underscored the power of community spirit and collective action, resulting in an extraordinary outcome driven by people committed to doing the right thing.
