A British tourist was injured after crashing his motorcycle into a car on Jomtien Beach Road in Pattaya in the early hours of October 22nd. The tourist was reportedly heavily intoxicated and driving against traffic.
At 4:06 AM, the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Center received a report of a traffic accident on Jomtien Beach Road, opposite Soi Jomtien 1. Upon receiving the report, rescue volunteers immediately went to the scene, along with reporters from The Pattaya News team.
There, rescue workers found a bronze Toyota Fortuner with damage on its left side. The car was driven by 42-year-old Mr. Kriangsit. The other vehicle involved was a white Honda Click 150 motorcycle without a license plate. It was driven by an unidentified British tourist, who was heavily intoxicated, according to rescuers.
The foreigner, who did not have any identification documents, suffered non-life-threatening injuries on his body and face. Rescue personnel provided first aid before transporting him to a local hospital.
Mr. Kriangsit told The Pattaya News that as he was starting his car and preparing to leave his parking spot, when the tourist, who was allegedly riding his motorcycle against traffic at high speed, crashed into his car as he attempted to come out of his parking spot, causing the accident and resulting in the tourist’s injuries. After the incident, he immediately contacted the rescue team for assistance.
A police investigation is continuing and the injured British tourist will be taken to a local police station for further legal action following medical treatment.
Addendum, October 23rd, 2024: Some reports from witnesses have stated the foreign man involved may be Norwegian and not British, although Pattaya police will not confirm or deny these statements.
