Pattaya-
On October 16th, 2024, at the Nong Ao Monastery the Pattaya Isaan Association, led by President Mr. Sukreep Krachai, organized a merit-making event, marking the end of Buddhist Lent, to uphold Thailand’s beautiful traditions and culture.
The ceremony took place at the Nong Ao Monastery, where the Mayor of Pattaya City, Mr. Poramese Ngamphiches, presided over the ritual of lighting incense sticks and candles. The event was blessed by Phra Maha Phuchit Tissaro, head of the monastery, along with esteemed guests including Mr. Banjong Banthoonprayuk, Vice President of the Pattaya City Council, and Mr. Nakorn Phonlukin, Vice President of the Chonburi Provincial Administrative Organization Council.
The ceremony included Buddhist prayers chanted by monks and a Brahmin ceremony led by Ajarn Thee Theeradej Wongphirasakul. The highlight was the stirring of Khao Thib. Over the course of 6-7 hours, participants worked together, chanting auspicious prayers, to prepare the Khao Thib, which was then offered to monks and distributed to the public.
This marks the second year that Nong Ao Monastery has hosted the Khao Thib stirring ceremony. The tradition is deeply rooted in the belief that Khao Thib, once made by Nang Suchada to offer to the Buddha, is divine and special. The offering is made to welcome the Buddha on the last day of Buddhist Lent. Stirring Khao Thib requires the faith, determination, and unity of the community, symbolizing a collective act of worship and spiritual healing.
