Over 30 Students Injured in Nakhon Pathom Bus and Pig Truck Accident

Nakhon Pathom —

At 7:00 PM on October 14th, 2024, Nakhon Pathom police received a report of a bus carrying over 40 students crashing into a pig truck on Phetkasem Road, Nakhon Pathom, resulting in multiple injuries.

Nakhon Pathom investigators arrived at the scene to find a blue bus with severe damage to the front left side causing the front left-side door unable to open. The bus, driven by Mr. Chaisit, 70, had its front windshield shattered. Nearby was the truck loaded with 130 pigs, driven by Mr. Sinsak, 38.

Rescue teams and the Sukhsala Nakhon Pathom Foundation quickly transported the injured to Synphaet and Bangkok Sanamchan hospitals.

Chaisit told the police that the bus was returning from Suan Phueng district, Ratchaburi, with over 40 students from a conservation camp of Srinakharinwirot University. He told the police that the students had to evacuate via the backdoor and an emergency door as the front left-side door was severely damaged.

The pig truck ahead allegedly braked suddenly due to the rain, and the bus couldn’t stop in time, leading to the collision, according to Chaisit. Thirty-one students reportedly sustained minor injuries but no one was seriously hurt, according to the rescue team.

According to Sinsak, the pig truck driver, transporting 130 pigs from Ratchaburi to Nakhon Pathom, said that wet roads allegedly caused the sudden braking. However, authorities will continue investigating to confirm the details.
