Pattaya —
A 34-year-old Thai man was arrested in connection with a violent attack on a grocery store owner and his associates, which left four people injured in Pattaya last month.
The arrest was carried out on the morning of October 10th, 2024, by Nongprue police. They arrested 34-year-old Mr. Nirutti Boonsang in accordance with a warrant issued by the Pattaya Provincial Court for charges of “assaulting another person with a weapon, causing injury to their body or mind, and jointly assaulting another person with a weapon, causing serious injury.”
Mr. Nirutti was apprehended at his residence on Soi Mab Song in Pattaya. The incident that led to his arrest occurred in the early hours of September 1st, when over ten teenagers attacked the owner of a grocery store and his younger associates, resulting in four injuries.
Surveillance cameras clearly captured images of the assailants, and a following investigation uncovered that Mr. Nirutti was the one leading the group.
During questioning, Mr. Nirutti reportedly admitted to the crime. He alleged that he was provoked by the victim first before the altercation occurred.
The suspect further claimed that he was not fleeing the police but was actually seeking a way to mediate with the victim since all his younger accomplices had already been apprehended by the police.
Nongprue police said seven of the suspects have surrendered, while Mr. Nirutti and one other suspect remain at large. The police are continuing their investigation to arrest this last suspect.
