On October 8th, 2024, Thammasala police officers responded to a violent domestic dispute that left one woman dead and her husband seriously injured in the Thawi Watthana district, Bangkok.
After receiving reports of a fight involving gunfire and stabbing, local authorities prompted immediate action.
Upon arrival, officers found a gold Toyota sedan parked at the end of an alley with loud music blaring. The vehicle had its front doors wide open and both front seats reclined. Inside, police discovered 42-year-old Nattapol, the husband, who had sustained a wound to his forehead from a crossbow.
His face was covered in blood, and he reportedly had a bloodied knife tied to his wrist. Nattapol was administered first aid and later transported to Rajpipat Hospital for immediate medical treatment.
The body of 36-year-old Chonthicha, Nattapol’s wife, was found lying on her back in a pool of blood, with over 20 stab wounds covering her torso.
It was reported that he had hidden in the trunk of their car while she drove from their home in the Nong Kham area. It was reported that Nattapol had long suspected his wife of cheating. Chonthicha, a bus driver for route 12 in Bangkok, had reportedly arranged to meet her alleged secret lover at a nearby restaurant where the incident occurred.
As the couple confronted each other, an argument escalated into violence. Ms. Ratchanee Chotikam, a 35-year-old witness, recounted seeing the vehicle drive erratically into the alley, crashing into walls before coming to a stop.
Ratchanee described hearing Chonthicha scream for help as Nattapol allegedly attacked her with a knife. Despite the commotion, bystanders hesitated to intervene due to Nattapol’s threatening behavior and the alarming nature of the situation. However, the man in question of being a secret lover was just a regular customer at the restaurant, according to the witness. This man also did not get involved in the stabbing or fight.
The investigation is ongoing, with police examining nearby CCTV footage for additional evidence. Authorities are also waiting for Nattapol’s recovery to further interrogate him and establish the full circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
