Motorcyclist Critically Injured in Pattaya Hit-and-Run Accident

Pattaya —

A motorcyclist was left critically injured after being hit and run over on Sukhumvit Road in Pattaya late on October 7th, 2024. The other driver involved fled the scene immediately after the accident.

At 9:10 PM, the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Center received a report of a serious motorcycle accident on Pattaya Sukhumvit Road in front of an unidentified department store. Upon receiving the call, the rescue team coordinated with medical staff from Banglamung Hospital and quickly proceeded to the scene, along with reporters from The Pattaya News.

In the rightmost lane of the road, a black Honda Wave 125 motorcycle was found overturned and damaged. Nearby, an unidentified man, estimated to be between 30 to 40 years old and without any identification documents, was found lying unconscious in the middle of the road. The victim had tire marks on his abdomen, a broken left leg, and missing toes. Rescue workers and medical staff provided first aid before urgently transporting him to the nearest hospital.

A short distance away, a white Toyota Innova was found with front-end damage. The driver, 40-year-old Mr. Ekachai, was waiting at the scene to provide a statement to the authorities. He was uninjured.

According to an interview with Mr. Ekachai, he was driving toward South Pattaya when another vehicle struck the motorcycle, causing it to be thrown in front of his car. He then could not brake and ran over the victim. Mr. Ekachai said the first vehicle that hit the motorcycle immediately fled the scene.

Nearby CCTV cameras clearly captured the moment when the motorcycle collided with a sidecar motorcycle, causing it to be thrown into the path of the second car. Pattaya police are searching for the driver of the sidecar motorcycle.
