Pattaya —
Pattaya City School 7 hosted a fire safety drill for young students and teachers following Thailand’s recent tragic coach fire incident.
The drill was a collaboration between Pattaya City School 7, Pattaya City, and the Pattaya Police Station. It was attended by Mr. Krisana Boonsawat, Deputy Mayor of Pattaya, Mr. Nopsitcha Na Nakorn, Director of the Education Department, Mr. Suthep Klaisiekaew, School Director of Pattaya City School 7, as well as officials from the Pattaya Education Department, kindergarten teachers, and students.
The training included demonstrations on how passengers should respond in case of a fire or other accidents. Officials taught teachers and students basic safety procedures, such as how to fasten seat belts, where to locate emergency exits, and how to use a hammer to break the bus’s windows for escape.
Mr. Krisana stated that safety measures for school bus transport need to be strengthened, and drills should be regularly held for kindergarten teachers and students in Pattaya’s schools. This exercise at Pattaya City School 7 is a pilot program that will expand to other schools under the city’s jurisdiction.
This inspection followed a tragic school coach fire in Pathum Thani province that claimed the lives of 20 young students and three female teachers at the beginning of this month. Click here to read our coverage.
