At 7:30 PM on October 2nd, 2024, Thai national media provided an update following the police questioning of Mr. Songwit Chinbut, the owner of Chinbut Tour, whose bus was involved in a devastating accident during a school trip, leading to the tragic loss of multiple students and teachers.Â
After being questioned for around three hours at Khu Khot Police Station, Songwit expressed his willingness to offer support and compensation to the grieving families.Â
However, he declined to comment on the busâs gas leakage and stated that he would attend the funerals. He also requested to withhold further comments until his court appearance.
Meanwhile, the bus driver, Mr. Samarn Chanput, 48, was transferred to Thanyaburi Provincial Court, where his bail was denied due to the severity of the incident and him fleeing the scene.
Later in the evening, the relatives of the victims arrived at Wat Khao Phraya school in Uthai Thaniâs Lan Sak District. Mr. Bin Bunluerit, a representative from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, accompanied the families and assisted in delivering the bodies.Â
The atmosphere was somber and filled with sorrow as photos of the deceased, flower garlands, and incense were placed near the funeral site in preparation. The report indicated that the 23 bodies would be transported to the families in groups of four.
