At 2:30 PM (Thai local time) on October 3rd, 2024, Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra attended the 3rd Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Summit in Doha, Qatar.
During the meeting, Paetongtarn thanked Qatar for its warm hospitality and highlighted the success of the summit’s theme, “Sports Diplomacy.” She emphasized that sports play a key role in bridging differences and fostering global relationships, citing Qatar’s successful hosting of the 2022 FIFA World Cup as an example.
In her speech, she expressed Thailand’s deep concern over escalating regional tensions and the worsening humanitarian situation, urging all parties to cease hostilities and adhere to international humanitarian law. She also stressed the need for cooperation to address global challenges such as political conflicts, climate change, and technological advancements.
Furthermore, she underscored Asia’s importance in the 21st century, noting that it is home to 60% of the world’s population and serves as a global hub for the economy, energy, and food security.
She reportedly invited ACD members to collaborate on enhancing trade networks and synchronizing standards to strengthen the global food supply chain, with Thailand positioned as a key gateway between East and West.
Additionally, she outlined Thailand’s efforts to modernize its transportation infrastructure and boost connectivity across Asia, while also advocating for balanced financial systems that support developing nations.
