Pattaya Officials Conduct Safety Inspection of School Buses After Recent Fire Incident

Pattaya —

Pattaya City officials inspected school buses for safety equipment following a devastating school coach fire that cost 23 lives, 20 of which were young students.

Mr. Krisana Boonsawasdi, Deputy Mayor of Pattaya City, along with other city officials, inspected the safety equipment inside the school buses operated by Pattaya City yesterday morning, October 2nd. They were welcomed by the school’s administrative team and a bus driver, who demonstrated how to use the safety equipment on board.

The inspection was launched following a recent school coach fire incident, which killed 20 young students and three female teachers in Pathum Thani province. The officials conducted a thorough check of the 10 school buses, each capable of seating 32 passengers.

The inspection revealed that the buses are properly equipped with four emergency exits: one rear emergency door on the driver’s side, two safety windows (one on each side of the bus) that can be broken with a hammer in an emergency, and two emergency roof exits (one at the front and one at the back). The buses are also equipped with two fire extinguishers and a CCTV system with cameras covering four angles inside the bus.

Deputy Mayor Mr. Krisana stated that Pattaya City provides regular training to all bus drivers due to the fact that they often have to transport students to academic and sports competitions.

Before every trip, the drivers must thoroughly inspect the buses and demonstrate how to use the safety equipment. The initial inspection found that all the equipment was in working order.
