Police Hospital Nears ID Completion for Bus Fire Victims in Pathum Thani

PRESS RELEASE:

The Police General Hospital has provided an update on the school bus fire incident on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road yesterday (Oct 1), stating that identity verification for the victims is expected to be completed today.

Medical examiners from the hospital’s Institute of Forensic Medicine have been working throughout the night and have so far confirmed the identities of 17 of the 23 victims. The remaining six were expected to be identified later today. Once the process is completed, the bodies will be gradually released to the families for funeral arrangements.

The hospital has also been offering psychological support to the families of the deceased since the incident occurred. More than ten families have sought counseling services, and additional support is being provided to monitor their mental health. To accommodate further needs, the hospital has prepared four rooms in case family members require hospitalization for extended care.

Institute of Forensic Medicine Director Pol Maj Gen Supichai Limsivawong stated that the release of the bodies will be handled with respect and care, ensuring that families can conduct funeral rites in their hometowns. The hospital is coordinating closely with each family to support their needs during this extremely difficult time.

In collaboration with the Department of Mental Health, the Police General Hospital has also set up a dedicated mental health support center for the injured and the families affected by the incident. The center will continue to monitor developments and provide comprehensive assistance and care to those impacted by the tragedy.
