Bangkok-
On September 26th, 2024, Mr. Supachai Ek-un, Governor of the Provincial Electricity Authority, presided over the press conference of the PEA project to restore and care for the safety of the people in North Thailand, with network partners from the Thai Volunteer Engineer Foundation, the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, the Metropolitan Electricity Authority, and more at the lobby on the 1st floor of the Provincial Electricity Authority Head Office.
From the situation of flash floods, forest runoff, and landslides from Typhoon Yangi and Typhoon Soulik, more than 100,000 people in the northern and northeastern regions of Thailand have been affected, causing widespread damage, such as electrical systems in homes or even PEA distribution systems.
The Provincial Electricity Authority ( PEA) has established the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to serve as a central management center for various matters, such as manpower, supplies, budget, and to monitor the situation and report on any impacts. In addition, PEA is implementing projects like “ PEA restores and cares for the safety of the people” by surveying the area to check safety before supplying electricity, surveying houses that are ready and safe before proceeding to improve the electrical system, and working with network agencies.
Both the public and private sectors have contributed funds and joined forces to improve the electrical systems in damaged homes in order to alleviate the suffering of the people affected by the floods and increase the safety of using electricity, such as installing switches. Electricity, electrical sockets, main breakers, electrical wires, light bulb sets, RCD circuit breakers, and grounding wire installation must be in accordance with standards for public safety.
