46-Year-Old Thai Man Arrested for Knifepoint Motorcycle Robbery Near Pattaya

A 46-year-old Thai man was arrested for robbing a woman of her motorcycle and cash at knifepoint near Pattaya.

The arrest was made on September 28th by a team of Huai Yai police in the Huai Yai area of Banglamung district, Chonburi province. The suspect, Mr. Chae Khongouamthangam, was apprehended on suspicion of robbing a red-and-black Honda Wave motorcycle and 1,000 baht in cash from a Thai woman at a secluded area near Chak Nok Reservoir.

The robbery occurred at 1:36 AM on September 27th when the suspect approached the victim at Pattaya Beach before inviting her to his room to hang out. Once in a secluded area, he then allegedly threatened her with a knife, stole her belongings, and fled.

Mr. Chae claimed that the crime was not premeditated. However, the police have charged him with “robbery at night.” He is currently in police custody.
