Sattahip —
A Russian woman was rescued after drifting for seven hours in the sea off Bang Saray Beach in Sattahip district after losing her way while swimming.
The woman, identified only as Ms. Junior, 40, was spotted stranded in the sea by the crew of a squid fishing boat around 4:30 PM on September 25th. She was signaling for help, prompting the crew to immediately contact a local rescue team, who dispatched a speedboat to rescue her.
The Russian tourist was safely brought ashore at the Bang Saray Fishing and Tourism Club’s pier on Bang Saray Beach.
According to Ms. Junior, she had been staying at a hotel in Na Jomtien. She had gone for a swim in the sea around 9:00 AM after admittedly consuming what she said was a small amount of alcohol.
During her swim, she lost her sense of direction and ended up drifting about 8 kilometers away from the shore. Exhausted and disoriented, she remained afloat for over seven hours, until the fishing boat crew discovered her and safely brought her aboard.
Mr. Supot Chomdokmai, a 40-year-old rescue worker, shared that upon receiving an emergency call from the fishing boat crew, he promptly dispatched a speedboat to rescue the woman, who was found to be fatigued. She was safely brought back to shore, where local rescue services from the Sawang Rojanatham Sathan Foundation took her to the hospital for a health check-up. The hospital then contacted her hotel to arrange for her return to her accommodation.
