Pattaya —
After failing to meet the deadline in March, the contractor of the canopy project at Pattaya Bali Hai Pier has now vowed to complete the construction within two months.
On September 24th, local reporters visited Bali Hai Pier to follow up on the progress of the canopy installation. They found that the contractor is speeding up the installation of the roof, ceiling, and lighting.
According to the contractor, they have divided the installation into segments of 100 meters, resulting in significant progress. If there are no further obstacles, the contractor said the project is very likely to be completed in about two months.
The city of Pattaya has started the construction of a canopy over Bali Hai Pier’s walkway to accommodate tourists and residents by shielding them from the sun and rain.
The Pattaya City Council approved a budget of 8.8 million baht to support this project. The construction is being carried out alongside repairs to the structure beneath the pier. However, challenges in the construction of the canopy caused some delays, and the contractor failed to meet the project deadline that ended in March of this year.
As a result, the contractor had to pay fines to Pattaya City while continuing to work on completing the project. The design of the canopy features a wave-like structure that complements the coastal theme of the area.
