A 24-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured after crashing into a parked pickup truck in Pattaya while allegedly using his phone.
At 1:30 PM on September 23rd, the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation was notified of a serious accident involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck. The incident occurred near the back of Wat Thammasamakkee on the railway road in the Nongprue sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province. Rescuers immediately went to the scene.
There, they found 24-year-old motorcycle rider, identified only as Mr. Anusorn, with severe injuries, including a head laceration and abrasions across his body. Rescuers administered first aid before rushing him to Banglamung Hospital.
Mr. Anusorn’s black Honda Scoopy-i motorcycle was found heavily damaged at the front. Nearby, an Isuzu D-Max pickup truck sustained damage to its rear canopy window. The truck was driven by Mr. Supachai, a motorcycle parts delivery driver.
According to Mr. Supachai’s wife, her husband had parked the truck along the roadside and stepped out to make a phone call to ask for directions. As they were stopped, she noticed the motorcyclist approaching at high speed while seemingly reaching into his bag for his phone. The rider did not see the parked truck in time and crashed into it, resulting in his injuries.
Police are reviewing nearby CCTV footage to gather further evidence for potential legal action.
