Pattaya —

A gang of Pattaya teens brazenly smashed LED advertisement screens on a truck with iron rods. The victim believed it was the act by his customer’s business rival.

On September 23rd, 2024, the victim Mr. Pongsakorn (family name withheld upon request), 41, filed a police report at the Pattaya Police Station after being attacked by a group of over five teenagers. The attackers used iron rods to destroy his two LED screens worth more than 100,000 baht that were attached to both sides of his small truck.

Mr. Pongsakorn stated that the incident occurred while he was driving an advertisement truck for a client near Royal Garden Plaza on Pattaya Beach Road, to promote a new entertainment venue on Walking Street. Then, the group of teens riding two motorcycles, some wearing full-face helmets and masks, approached and used iron rods to smash the two LED screens on his truck.

Mr. Pongsakorn tried to chase after the suspects but lost them near the entrance to Walking Street due to heavy traffic. He later spotted them again near Pattaya Second Road, where they quickly fled into an alley near The Avenue shopping center. He immediately informed his company and went to the police to file a complaint.

Mr. Pongsakorn suspected two possible motives. The first was that the teens were hired by his customer’s competitor to cause intimidation, and the second was that they were just frustrated by the brightness of the LED screens, which may have caused them discomfort.

Following the report, police gathered information from the driver and are currently reviewing CCTV footage to track down the perpetrators. Authorities will also further investigate the motive behind the attack.
