A dispute over noisy barking dogs escalated into a shooting incident in Pattaya, leaving one man injured.
The incident occurred around 7:06 PM on September 17th on Soi Boonsamphan 17 in the Nongprue sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province. Following the report, Nongprue police, rescue workers, and The Pattaya News team went to the scene to find the victim with a gunshot wound to his right thigh.
The victim, Mr. Wanit (family name withheld upon request), a 41-year-old maintenance worker, revealed that he had been in a dispute with his neighbor over barking dogs that had disturbed his sleep for days. Despite repeated complaints to his neighbor, Mr. Wanit could not resolve the issue with her.
On the day of the incident, after days of escalation from arguing over the barking dog, the neighbor, identified only as Ms. Siwaporn, 47, confronted Mr. Wanit about a tree branch from his home allegedly half-blocking her door. As Mr. Wanit was trimming his tree to resolve the issue, Ms. Siwaporn suddenly fired at him with a gun but missed. When Mr. Wanit questioned whether she had shot at him and if the gun was real, Ms. Siwaporn responded with a verbal threat and then shot him in the thigh.
Rescue workers provided initial first aid and rushed Mr. Wanit to the hospital. Ms. Siwaporn was apprehended at the scene by the authorities with a .32 caliber revolver and four rounds of ammunition. She reportedly admitted to firing the weapon, claiming it was due to a long-standing feud with Mr. Wanit regarding arguments about her dog. She said that after being provoked, she shot at him, and when Mr. Wanit allegedly approached her with scissors, she fired again at the floor but claimed she only accidentally hit him.
Nongprue police are holding Ms. Siwaporn for further questioning while awaiting Mr. Wanit’s recovery for additional testimony. Police are also reviewing CCTV footage for evidence to proceed with legal action.
