At 7:00 AM on September 16th, 2024, the National Water Resources Office (NWRO) summarized the national water situation. The highest rainfall over the past 24 hours was recorded in Trat (154 mm), Ubon Ratchathani (118 mm), Ranong (138 mm), Nan (80 mm), Kanchanaburi (53 mm), and Suphan Buri (3 mm).
From September 18 to 21, the NWRO predicts that a monsoon trough will move across the lower central, northeastern, and eastern regions, leading to continuous heavy rainfall in central, Bangkok, east, and south regions. Some areas may experience very heavy rain.
The NWRO also warned of rising water levels in the Mekong River, with increases expected in Chiang Rai, Loei, Nong Khai, and Bueng Kan, where water levels may increase 1.50 to 2.50 meters above riverbanks.
A flood management center has been reportedly set up in Ayutthaya to coordinate efforts in flood-prone areas, including the Chao Phraya, Pasak, Sakae Krang, and Tha Chin river basins.
According to NWRO, Flooding between September 3 and 15 affected 13 provinces: Mae Hong Son, Chiang Rai, Nan, Tak, Sukhothai, Phitsanulok, Phetchabun, Loei, Nong Khai, Ang Thong, Ayutthaya, Prachin Buri, and Satun.
