Pattaya —
A pharmacy in Pattaya was caught selling unregistered drugs and using a 17-year-old staff member to distribute the medications, according to arresting police officers.
At 4:00 PM on September 11th, 2024, Pol. Lt. Col. Piyapong Ensarn, Superintendent of the Tourist Police Sub-Division 4, joined forces with the Chonburi Provincial Public Health Office to conduct a sting operation and search a pharmacy that was reportedly illegally selling unregistered drugs and specially controlled substances to customers in Pattaya.
The operation stemmed from complaints by local residents who reported that the pharmacy was selling the drugs without proper licensing. The store also employed ordinary individuals, not licensed pharmacists, to sell these drugs, concerned residents said.
The police team planned a sting operation at the pharmacy located on Laem Bali Hai Road. Ten marked 100-baht bills were given to an undercover agent, who entered the store and purchased the drugs while the arrest team waited outside. After the agent exited with the drugs, which were confirmed to be dangerous substances under the 1967 Drug Act, the arrest team moved in and arrested the suspect.
Police arrested a 17-year-old female employee (name withheld due to her age) and found a large quantity of unregistered drugs.
The police arrested the unidentified individual responsible for selling the drugs, who had employed a minor under 18 years old to dispense the medication. Both the suspect and the seized drugs were sent to Pattaya Police Station for further legal action.
