Some Netizens Concerned on How Some Visitors Treat Beloved Baby Hippo Moo Deng at Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Chonburi

Chonburi —

The adorable baby pygmy hippo “Moo Deng” of  Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Chonburi province has become a fan favorite in Thailand, but some visitors have allegedly behaved inappropriately, throwing bananas and even seashells at her while she naps, prompting calls from netizens for better protection.

The 2-month-old female pygmy hippopotamus “Moo Deng” has become a social media sensation among Thai people due to her cuteness and energy, and even begun to go viral in China and Korea.

Her playful and cute demeanor has captured the hearts of many. Many of her photos have  even become popular memes used by netizens both in Thailand and abroad, which draws large crowds of tourists who want to see her in person.

However, as Moo Deng is still very young, she spends much of her time napping, which has left some tourists disappointed as they miss her playful moments. Most visitors, though, understand her need for rest as a baby.

Unfortunately, according to social media posts, a few have behaved inappropriately by throwing bananas or splashing water at her while she sleeps. Some visitors have even been reportedly throwing objects like seashells at her in an attempt to get her attention, which could potentially harm her.

Many have since called for stricter measures from the zoo to ensure Moo Deng’s safety and protect her from any harm.
