Takhian Tia, Near Pattaya–
Today, September 4th, 2024, Takhian Tia Municipality, supported by the Takhian Tia Municipality Health Insurance Fund, inaugurated the “Good Health, Happy Life Project” for 2024.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Mr. Mitchai Prakoptham, Mayor of Takhian Tia Municipality, with Mr. Wachira Sucheo, Deputy Mayor, reporting on the project’s objectives.
According to Mitchai, Thailand faces a major health challenge with a high prevalence of non-communicable chronic diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. These diseases account for 75 percent of all deaths in the country, with 320,000 fatalities annually, or a shocking average of 37 deaths per hour. Major contributing factors include stress, poor dietary habits, smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, and lack of exercise.
The “Good Health, Happy Life Project” aims to combat these issues by educating the public on proper health care, providing initial health screenings, and ensuring timely treatment for illnesses. The project targets residents of Takhian Tia Subdistrict Municipality aged 30 and over. This initiative is being carried out under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Takhian Tia and the Banglamung Hospital.
The project’s objectives are:
1. To educate the public on proper health care practices.
2. To conduct initial health screenings for participants.
3. To provide information and timely treatment for identified health issues.
