Pattaya/Banglamung–

On September 3rd, 2024, a major meeting was held at the the Banglamung District Office. The meeting, chaired by Mr. Wikit Manarojkij, Banglamung District Chief, brought together local leaders to discuss major areas of focus for the latter half of the year.

Petty Officer 1st Class Pithayaphon Ko Kaew, Senior District Officer, highlighted what he called the district’s outstanding performance in drug prevention and suppression. Chonburi Province, in collaboration with the Office of the Narcotics Control Board Region 2 and Chonburi Provincial Police, conducted an intensive three-month operation to stomp out illegal drugs from June to August of 2024.

This operation, which was a national focus ordered by now former Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin , focused on a variety of measures to suppress illegal drugs and offer rehab to addicts in and around Banglamung.

The efforts paid off, at least according to the district, with Chonburi Province achieving a total government ranked performance score of 97.70 out of 100, ranking first among 25 provinces.

Meanwhile, Major Phirayut Chaiyarun announced that Thai males born in 2007 with registered addresses in the Banglamung District must register for military conscription (essentially a lottery in Thailand) at the Banglamung District Office by December 31st, 2024.

Mr. Wikit also reminded all those attending of the strict prohibition of gambling dens in the district. He warned that any village or sub-district headmen found to ignore this law would face immediate personal legal action.

The Pattaya News notes that Thailand has some of the strictest anti-gambling laws in the world, with even private games of cards or gambling illegal.
