Pattaya —
A 20-year-old Thai woman in Pattaya was shocked to wake up and find a male hotel staff member allegedly groping her after she and her boyfriend fell asleep in their room following a night out.
At that time, neither Ms. Belle nor her boyfriend were clothed since they were very drunk the night before. However, the staff member chose not to wake her boyfriend but instead approached Ms. Belle. Initially, he nudged her, but then allegedly groped her, according to the victim. Ms. Belle thought it was her boyfriend touching her, but upon waking, she realized it was the staff member. Shocked, she woke her boyfriend, and the staff member quickly left the room. She reported the incident to other staff members, but the male staff member who allegedly groped her did not apologize and even appeared to be laughing, Ms. Belle claimed.
Ms. Belle later revealed to Thai media that the incident occurred around 4:30 AM on August 31st in a bungalow-style room in Pattaya’s Soi Bongkot. She insisted that she felt someone touching her breast, and when she opened her eyes, she saw a man dressed like hotel staff groping her. She confronted him, asking, “What are you doing?” to which he responded, “Let’s talk outside.”
Outraged, Ms. Belle followed the man outside and recorded the incident on her phone. She then confronted the bungalow manager about the inappropriate incident, but the man denied the allegations. The manager, a woman, apologized, claiming that the staff had tried to wake them up several times before entering.
Ultimately, Ms. Belle decided to share her distressing experience on social media to warn others, stressing that hotel rooms are private spaces and should not be entered without proper notice. However, it appears that she did not file a formal complaint with the police.
The name of the hotel was withheld pending further possible investigation by police and due to Thai law.
