On the morning of August 29th, 2024, Thai national media reported that “Angel Bew” Puripol Boonson clinched the silver medal in the men’s 100-meter race at the World Athletics U20 Championship 2024, in Lima, Peru.
In the final, 18-year-old Thai sprinter “Bew” Puripol finished second with a time of 10.22 seconds, narrowly trailing South Africa’s Bayanda Walaza, who won gold with a time of 10.19 seconds. Another South African, Bradley Nkoana, secured third place with a time of 10.26 seconds.
For his achievement, Puripol will receive a reward of 200,000 baht from the Thai National Sports Development Fund, which sets the prize for youth world championships at 300,000 baht for gold, 200,000 baht for silver, and 100,000 baht for bronze.
Previously, Puripol competed in the men’s 100 meters at the Paris Olympics 2024, where he narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing the Men’s 100m Semi-Final 3 with a time of 10.14 seconds.
