Koh Larn, Thailand— Social media is abuzz with outrage after a video emerged showing a tourist speedboat crew member defecating in the sea off Koh Larn. The incident, captured on camera, has raised concerns about inappropriate behavior and its impact on the island’s world class friendly family tourism image.
The video, originally posted by an unidentified Facebook user, depicted the boatman casually relieving himself at the back of the vessel in broad daylight in front of multiple witnesses while joking with his colleagues.
Although the Facebook page was later taken down, a dissenting group managed to record the clip and share it within the Pattaya Facebook community. The incident occurred near Had Thian Beach.
In an interview with a Pattaya News reporter, the crew member—referred to only as Mr. Ohm—admitted to the act. He explained that as a boatman ferrying tourists, he occasionally faced stomachaches. When discomfort struck, he would discreetly venture out to sea and relieve himself behind the boat. This time, however, he acted without considering the consequences. Mr. Ohm expressed remorse and pledged not to repeat such behavior.
It is unclear if Mr. Ohm would face any legal action for his behaviour.
