Chonburi —

A jealous teenager brandished a gun at Krating Lai Beach after spotting his ex-girlfriend with a new boyfriend, causing panic among tourists.

At around 9:16 PM on August 28th, 2024, Banglamung police received a report of a teenage male threatening others with a gun at Krating Lai Beach in the Naklua area, Banglamung district, Chonburi province. Police quickly responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, the police found tourists, both Thai and foreign, in a state of panic. They then met with Ms. Aey, 17, and Mr. Jack, 17, the teenagers involved in the incident, who were waiting to provide statements to the officers. The suspect, identified as Mr. Tae, had already fled the scene. The real names of everyone involved were withheld by police due to their young ages.

According to Ms. Aey, Mr. Tae was her ex-boyfriend and had been threatening her since yesterday. That evening, while she was sitting with her new boyfriend, Mr. Jack, at the beach, she noticed Mr. Tae approaching with a gun, shouting, “So, you think you’re tough? I warned you!” Fearing for their lives, she and her new boyfriend attempted to escape, but Mr. Tae pursued them with the gun. Fortunately, they managed to seek help from nearby residents in time.

A local vendor, whose name was withheld to protect her safety, reported that a teenage couple ran to her, asking for help, saying they were about to be shot. The vendor saw Mr. Tae chasing them with a gun. She intervened, telling him that there were many people around who could be harmed, and warned him not to ruin his future. Mr. Tae then reluctantly put the gun away, got on a motorcycle, and rode away from the scene. At the time, many tourists were present and ran for their safety.

Banglamung police are currently searching for the suspect at the time of publishing.
