Pattaya —
A young Thai man was killed when his motorcycle crashed and was run over by a water truck in Pattaya on August 27th, 2024. The water truck driver had reportedly fled the scene.
Around 8:00 PM on Tuesday, Pattaya police were notified of a fatal motorbike accident on Soi Phothisarn in the Na Kluea sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province. Police and emergency services from the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Foundation accompanied by The Pattaya News team immediately responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, authorities found a blue Honda Wave 125 motorcycle overturned on the road. The deceased, identified as 22-year-old Mr. Jirayut Laksana-arayakarn, was found lying motionless in a pool of blood after being run over by a six-wheeled water truck.
Unfortunately, the truck had ran over Mr. Jirayut’s head, resulting in his instant demise. The rescue teams covered his body with a white sheet before transporting him to a local hospital.
Approximately 100 meters away, authorities found the six-wheeled water truck parked on the road. However, the truck appeared abandoned, and Pattaya police believed the driver had fled on foot before they arrived.
Eyewitness Ms. Duangdeuan Saesim, 48, reported that the victim was overtaking her vehicle on the left side of the road to pass the water truck when he lost control and fell. The rear wheels of the truck then ran over his head, causing a shocking scene for those who witnessed it. She immediately alerted the authorities.
Law enforcement said they will continue to search for the water truck driver to pursue legal action.
