Pattaya —
A six-wheel truck overturned on a road leading down Pratumnak Hill on August 22nd, 2024. The driver claimed the accident was caused by brake failure.
On August 22nd at 3:46 PM, the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Center received a report of a six-wheel truck overturning. The accident occurred on a road at Pratumnak Hill, near the Bali Hai Pier intersection in South Pattaya, Nongprue, Banglamung district, Chonburi province. Upon receiving the report, rescue teams promptly went to the scene.
At the scene, the rescue teams found a six-wheel truck carrying rubber tiles overturned on its side. Four people were moderately injured and were waiting for assistance. The rescue team provided first aid before rushing the injured to a nearby hospital. The accident caused traffic to slow down at the intersection, and police officers were called in to manage the situation until the truck wreckage was cleared and traffic returned to normal.
The truck driver, Mr. Traiphop, 23, (surname withheld upon request), explained that he was attempting to drive uphill, but due to heavy traffic, the truck couldn’t make it. He then decided to turn around and descend the hill. However, during the descent, the brakes malfunctioned due to the truck’s heavy load, forcing Mr. Traiphop to swerve his truck to avoid other vehicles. This eventually caused the truck to flip.
Pattaya police are reviewing CCTV footage to determine the exact cause of the accident.
