Indian Roti Vendor Stabbed Multiple Times During Argument with Another Vendor in Sri Racha

An Indian roti vendor was brutally stabbed after arguing with another vendor over a vending space in Sri Racha district, Chonburi.

At 5:30 PM on August 20th, 2024, Sri Racha police received a report of a stabbing incident outside a convenience store in front of G Condo in the Surasak sub-district, Sri Racha district, Chonburi province. Police and local rescue volunteers immediately rushed to the scene.

There, authorities found the injured victim, Mr. Hima Himahmad, 47, an Indian national and roti vendor, lying in a pool of blood and moaning in pain. He had sustained multiple stab wounds to his head, face, ribs, and back, as well as a wound on his left palm. First aid was administered, and he was promptly transported to Somdej Phra Boromrajaket Hospital. The suspect had fled the scene before the authorities arrived.

According to eyewitnesses, the victim had parked his roti cart at the incident scene. Shortly afterward, the suspect, also a roti vendor, arrived and began arguing with the victim. The argument escalated, and the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim multiple times before fleeing. Eyewitnesses believed the stabbing was likely due to a dispute over vending space between the two.

Sri Racha police are currently investigating the incident and searching for the suspect. It is unclear if the victim has a work permit or is working legally or if they carry dual Thai/Indian nationality.
