Pathum Thani —

At 7:00 PM on August 16th, 2024, Thai police arrested a suspect involved in a high-profile robbery at a Chinese luxury residence in Mueang, Pathum Thani. The criminals stole assets worth 80 million baht, including 70 million baht of cryptocurrency, cash, and other valuables.

One of the five suspects was captured after Immigration Police at Ban Khlong Luek checkpoint in Sa Kaeo’s Aranyaprathet district identified and apprehended him.

The man, publicly identified as Mr. Nguyen Ba Hien, 35, was found driving a vehicle used in the robbery. He was charged with overstaying his visa, although his nationality wasn’t made clear, and was found with an expired passport and two mobile phones. The stolen vehicle and other evidence were handed over to the Pak Khlong Rangsit police station in Pathum Thani for further investigation.

The suspect admitted to driving the robbers to the crime scene on August 8th and 14th, 2024, but denied involvement in the robbery itself, claiming he was only hired to drive them. Thai authorities are coordinating with immigration checkpoints nationwide to track down the remaining suspects.
