Pattaya Deputy Mayor Monitors Progress of Naklua Seafood Market Development Project

Pattaya, August 9th, 2024 – In a concerted effort to enhance cleanliness standards and provide better facilities for tourists, Mr. Wuttisak Reumkitcharoen, Deputy Mayor of Pattaya City, along with members of the Pattaya City Council, District 1, and Mr. Santi Thongnoi, President of the Lan Pho Na Kluea Community, visited the Lan Pho Na Kluea Market parking lot. The visit aimed to survey the area and monitor the progress of the ongoing seafood market development project.

Mr. Wuttisak Reumkitcharoen emphasized that the project involves organizing seafood shops in various alleys to be temporarily located in a hygienic market area at the Lan Pho Market parking lot.

The development plan includes the installation of seating, hand washing stations, and trash cans to improve cleanliness standards and provide necessary facilities to accommodate an increasing number of tourists. A temporary building is also being constructed to serve as a seafood market, which is currently in the procurement process.

The project covers an area of approximately 1,127 square meters in the Lan Pho Market parking lot, where Pattaya City will allocate space for 60 seafood stalls and parking spaces. Additionally, improvements will be made to the fishing area of Ban Na Kluea, covering approximately 1,000 square kilometers.

This development aligns with the Oldtown Na Kluea operation guidelines, a project aimed at restoring the community’s past prosperity through community-based tourism. The initiative seeks to present the unique identity, culture, and abundant nature of the area for tourists to experience, featuring a fresh seafood market supplied by the Na Kluea fishing community.

In an interview with The Pattaya News, Mr. Wuttisak Reumkitcharoen expressed his commitment to ensuring the project’s success, highlighting its importance in meeting the needs of local people and enhancing the overall tourist experience in Pattaya.
