Pattaya City to Organize Electrical Wires at Naklua Old Market for Safety Reasons

Pattaya City, Thailand – In a proactive move to enhance both the safety and aesthetic appeal of the Naklua Old Market, Pattaya City officials are set to reorganize the electrical wiring in the area. This initiative aims to prevent potential electrical short circuits and ensure a safer environment for both residents and visitors.

Deputy Mayor of Pattaya City, Mr. Wuttisak Reumkitcharoen, along with members of the Pattaya City Council, including Mr. Santi Thongnoi, President of the Naklua Lan Pho Community, and officers from the Pattaya City Engineering Office, recently visited the Naklua Old Market, Soi 8/1, also known as Soi Watthanachai. The visit was part of a broader effort to address the deteriorating condition of electrical and communication wires in the area.

Mr. Wuttisak highlighted the historical significance of the Naklua Lan Pho Market, noting its unique Thai-style wooden houses that form the identity of this old community. However, the aging and damaged electrical wires pose a significant risk of electrical short circuits, prompting the city’s leadership to take action.

“The safety of the public and tourists is our top priority,” stated Mr. Wuttisak. “We have identified the need to organize the electrical wires to align with the Naklua Lan Pho development project, ensuring a safer and more visually appealing market.”

The reorganization plan includes the installation of new electric poles on August 15th, followed by the replacement of electrical wires on August 21st and 28th, 2024. This effort is also aimed at safeguarding the livelihoods of local salt farmers who frequent the market.

This initiative underscores Pattaya City’s commitment to preserving the cultural heritage of the Na Kluea Old Market while prioritizing the safety and well-being of its community and visitors.
