Nongprue, Chonburi– The Thai National Institute of Emergency Medicine (NERR), in collaboration with the Sawang Prateep Dhammasathan Sriracha Buddhist Association, the Central Company for Protection of Road Accident Victims Co., Ltd., and the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, Ministry of Interior, held a press conference yesterday, August 6th, 2024, to announce the 6th National Emergency Medical Conference of Non-Profit Private Organizations.
The event, themed “The Role of Rescuers to Develop Thai Emergency Medicine to International Standards,” was attended by Dr. Pichet Nongchang, Deputy Secretary-General of NERR, Mr. Chatchai Kamjornkitkan, President of the Sawang Prateep Dhammasathan Sriracha Buddhist Association, and Mr. Somchai Sutsena, representative of the Central Company for Protection of Road Accident Victims Co., Ltd.
The conference is scheduled for August 24, 2024, at Sriracha School in Sriracha District, Chonburi Province. It will feature seminars, training sessions, presentations on emergency medical innovations, an EMS competition, a Q&A competition, and the HERO AWARD ceremony to honor outstanding individuals in emergency medicine.
In 2023, the emergency number 1669 received over 8 million calls, with 1.91 million resulting in emergency assistance. This indicates that only 23% of calls were accommodated by the operation units. The involvement of non-profit organizations is crucial in enhancing emergency response and increasing patient survival rates.
The conference aims to develop the potential of emergency medical personnel from non-profit organizations and provide a platform for knowledge exchange among rescue networks.
