At 10:48 AM on August 2nd, 2024, Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin visited the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB). During his visit, he toured the Real-Time Crime Center (RTCC) and received a briefing on its operations.
Srettha commended the CIB for their professionalism and integrity, highlighting their commitment to resisting undue influence and adhering to legal principles. He praised their steadfastness in upholding the law, even when under pressure from various entities.
He also emphasized the importance of the National CCTV initiative, noting its extensive coverage and crucial role in enhancing security across multiple dimensions.
In addressing national crime issues, Srettha underscored the necessity of leveraging modern technology and continuous training for the 8,000-strong CIB personnel. He stressed the importance of officer safety, urging commanders to ensure that their teams are well-equipped and vigilant, especially in drug enforcement, a key government priority.
Furthermore, Srettha expressed gratitude for the CIB’s support of government policies, particularly highlighting the successful launch of the 10,000-baht digital wallet registration on August 1st. The initiative saw nearly 20 million users on the first day.
He urged the CIB to remain vigilant against fraudulent websites and to help disseminate information to protect the public from scams.
