At 6:01 AM on August 1st, 2024, the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) monitored flood conditions in Thailand using Sentinel-1 satellite imagery.
The satellite data revealed flood-affected areas in parts of Northeast and Eastern Thailand, including:
- Prachinburi: 60,009 rai
- Nakhon Ratchasima: 40,721 rai
- Nakhon Nayok: 17,475 rai
- Chaiyaphum: 11,226 rai
- Roi Et: 11,185 rai
- Chanthaburi: 2,133 rai
- Kalasin: 1,809 rai
- Trat: 1,785 rai
- Khon Kaen: 947 rai
- Sa Kaeo: 223 rai
(1 Rai is equal to 1,600 square meters)
In total, approximately 147,512 rai were flooded, with 54,706 rai of rice fields affected. Most flooded areas are low-lying lands along the main and secondary rivers, including residential communities and some transportation routes.
GISTDA provided satellite images to relevant agencies to support their flood management efforts in planning and monitoring.
