The Pattaya City Education Office has unveiled a novel approach to teaching and learning: the Youth E-sports Competition Project. The project aims to provide young individuals with a platform to showcase their E-sports skills while fostering unity and camaraderie within the city.
The grand opening took place on August 1st, 2024, at Pattaya City Hall, where Mr. Poramese Ngampiches, Mayor of Pattaya City, presided over the event. Joining him were Mr. Banjong Bantoorprayuk, 2nd Vice President of the Pattaya City Council, Mr. Nopphasitcha Na Nakhon, Director of the Pattaya City Education Office, executives from True 5G – E-sports Company, and enthusiastic teachers and students representing 11 schools under the jurisdiction of Pattaya City.
The Youth E-sports Competition Project, scheduled for August 1-2, 2024, offers young participants the chance to demonstrate their prowess in E-sports. Divided into two categories, the under-15 and under-18 groups, the competition features 23 teams and 8 teams, respectively. These students hail from various schools within Pattaya City.
Mayor Poramese emphasized the significance of E-sports in the digital age. Beyond mere entertainment, gaming now presents opportunities for income generation and career development. He encouraged young people to utilize their free time effectively by honing their E-sports abilities. This initiative aligns with the “Better Pattaya” policy, which prioritizes technological advancement and community well-being.
