Pattaya City, Thailand- In a momentous celebration, the mayor of Pattaya, accompanied by monks, civil servants, disciples, and the public, extended their heartfelt congratulations to Phra Ratchasarsophon.
The occasion marked the bestowal of the ecclesiastical title and the royal fan of the Thep class, granted by His Royal Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun.
On the auspicious occasion of His Royal Majesty’s 6th cycle birthday anniversary and 72nd birthday, which fell on July 28, 2024, Phra Ratchasarsophon (Anan Thammachoto) received the prestigious title of “Phra Thep Wachirapanyaphon,” signifying his elevation to the royal monkhood of the Thep class. Phra Ratchasarsophon, also known as Wimolkunwisit Mahakanisorn Bowornsangkharam Khamwasi, holds the distinction of being a royal monk of the highest rank, residing at Wat Chaimongkol—a revered temple in Pattaya near Walking Street.

At 2:00 p.m., a solemn procession led by Mr. Poramese Ngamphiches, the mayor of Pattaya City, presented the certificate and the royal fan to the temple. Amid the fragrance of incense sticks and the flicker of candles, the mayor presided over the reading of the royal decree, affirming Phra Ratchasarsophon’s new status. The monks chanted auspicious prayers, invoking blessings upon the newly honored monk.
Phra Thep Wachirapanyaphon, in a gesture of reverence, offered traditional Thai offerings to Phra Thep Wachiralankan. The event witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Mr. Wekit Manarojkit (Banglamung District Chief), Mr. Banlue Kulawanit (President of the Pattaya City Council), Ms. Nuengruethai Phullap (Director of the Chonburi Provincial Office of Buddhism), and Mr. Surat Mekhawarakul (President of the Banglamung District Cultural Council).
