Over 10.5 Million Register for 10,000-Baht Digital Wallet Stipend on Opening Day

PRESS RELEASE:

Over 10.5 million people had registered for the much-awaited digital wallet stipend program within the first six hours of the registration opening earlier today.

Deputy Finance Minister Julapun Amornvivat said this figure exceeded initial expectations. However, he clarified that not all registrants will necessarily receive the benefits, as eligibility will be confirmed after a review period, with results communicated to applicants by 22 September.

The registration period will continue 24/7 until 15 September. Julapun addressed concerns about technical difficulties experienced by users, explaining that the issues were not due to system failures but were caused by two main factors. These issues are users not updating the “Tang Rath” app and some smartphone models experiencing compatibility issues. He recommended that affected users delete and reinstall the app. The registration process is now proceeding smoothly.

Julapun also highlighted that registration includes provisions for those without smartphones, ensuring broad access to the program. The scheme is expected to inject significant economic activity, coinciding with major festivals like New Year and Songkran, and is projected to boost cash flow in the economy by over 2 trillion baht.
